This year marks the 44th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Griswold v. Connecticut decision, which set the precedent for the right to privacy in family planning matters. Under Connecticut Statute, Estelle Griswold, the executive director of the Planned Parenthood League of Connecticut, was convicted of providing contraceptive information to married couples. In overturning their conviction, the Supreme Court recognized an individual's right to privacy in family planning matters and set the stage for later reproductive rights decisions.
Members of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association make the promise of the Griswold v. Connecticut U.S. Supreme Court decision come to life in communities across our nation.
