Title X Resolution Introduced in House and Senate: Urge Your Members of Congress to Co-Sponsor!

On Thursday June 24th, Representative Judy Chu (D-CA) and Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) introduced a resolution (H. Res. 1476 and S. Res. 565, respectively) recognizing the achievements of the Title X family planning program. The resolution praises the Title X program and Title X providers for their contributions to low-income access to family planning. This legislation is an opportunity for members of Congress to demonstrate their support for the Title X program and its importance to the public health safety-net during the program's 40th anniversary year. ᅠ

The House resolution has 24 original co-sponsors (in addition to Rep. Chu) -- Reps. Baldwin (D-WI), Brady (D-PA), Braley (D-IA), Capps (D-CA), Capuano (D-MA), Carson (D-IN), Cohen (D-TN), DeGette (D-CO), DeLauro (D-CT), Frank (D-MA), Grijalva (D-AZ), Hinchey (D-NY), Holmes Norton (D-DC), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Loebsack (D-IA), Lowey (D-NY), Maffei (D-NY), Maloney (D-NY), McGovern (D-MA) , Nadler (D-NY), Schakowsky (D-IL), Slaughter D-NY), and Wu (D-OR).
The Senate resolution has 12 original co-sponsors (in addition to Sen. Merkley) -- Sens. Begich (D-AK), Boxer (D-CA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Cantwell (D-WA), Feinstein (D-CA), Franken (D-MN), Gillibrand (D-NY), Kerry (D-MA), Mikulski (D-MD), Murray (D-WA), Shaheen (D-NH) and Wyden (D-OR).
